Unlike wood, aluminum siding does not rot—however, aluminum siding does chalk, fade, dent and may require painting over time. Aluminum siding conducts electricity, which could be hazardous if the wall area comes into contact with electrical wiring such as light fixtures. Also, aluminum siding may interfere with TV and radio reception. Such maladies are present with both aluminum and steel sidings.
