Secure in seconds
The cable trap system has evolved from the DOS K-12 certified RSS-2000 Automated Vehicle Bollard System which provides positive vehicle control across any avenue of approach. The cable trap system remains flush with the surface in the down position. Security personnel can move an entire flightline from an open-taxiway condition to a closed-taxiway condition in a few seconds. This system puts you in total control of aircraft and vehicle access at all times.
The Cable Trap System is fully self-contained. It is housed is a ½ inch welded steel vault with 4'x 4' x ½ inch removable square bollard posts. The four K-12 rated barrier cables are lifted by the bollard posts providing an instant elevated barrier for any length taxiway gap (400-600 ft). The bollard post vaults can be positioned every 15 feet or they can be installed in custom intervals.
In the down position, the bollard posts are level with the concrete surface and the cables are positioned in the 1 inch cable trough allowing a smooth rolling surface for taxiing aircraft. The entire unit is corrosion resistant with an anti-skid top surface.
Cost-effective, easy-to-install, easy-to-maintain
This system is engineered to stop a vehicle weighting 15,000 lbs traveling at a speed of 55 MPH. Installation is simple, requiring a pit to install the self-contained vault with concrete poured around the perimeter flush with the existing taxiway. In just a few hours, it is fully operational. In case of a major malfunction or power outage, the bollard posts and cables can be raised manually or with four-hour battery backup.
