Polypropylene containers for food items

Constar manufactures a variety of PET, HDPE, and polypropylene containers for major brand marketers of peanut butter, ketchup, edible oils, salad dressings and sauces; and produces bottles and jars for some of the largest manufacturers of private label food products. We have solutions for cold and hot fill foods.

Improving the sustainability of packaging is a critical goal for brand owners today. PET food containers offer significant benefits in this area due to their considerable weight advantage. A packaging conversion from glass to PET will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from both the manufacture of the container and from a reduction in the number of truckload shipments required with the added benefit of lower transportation costs.

Wide-mouth food containers represent a growth opportunity for PET as companies convert products such as salsa, pasta sauce, applesauce, pickles, jellies, preserves, and condiments from glass to Constar's lightweight, monolayer PET containers. Our past innovations in the food market include the wide-mouth peanut butter container, squeezable containers for mustard and oval bottles for pourable salad dressings.

Constar continues to develop innovative food packaging. In 2007, we won an AmeriStar Award in the Food Category for a 46-ounce monolayer PET bottle for ConAgra Foods' Hunt's® Ketchup. The award-winning package uses Constar's DiamondClear® oxygen-scavenging technology and replaced a multi-layer bottle. Because of a significant reduction in materials use and improved recyclability, the bottle also was chosen from more than 100 other entries to receive the 3-M Sustainability Award.
