Description
DAY 1 USA/EN ROUTE: Depart the US on board an international airline carrier for St. Petersburg. All meals served on board, as well as complimentary beverages, movies, and headphones.
DAY 2 ST. PETERSBURG: Upon arrival in St. Petersburg and after clearing customs, meet your awaiting Intropa Tours manager and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Welcome dinner and overnight in St. Petersburg.
DAY 3 ST. PETERSBURG: Morning sightseeing of the Venice of the North and Czar Peter the Great's Window on the West. Continue to St. Isaac's Cathedral, the largest in the city with it's tall gilt dome. Visit the Yusopov Palace where Rasputin was murdered and then board a boat to the fabulous Summer Palace Petrodvorets, designed by Peter the Great to rival Versailles.
DAY 4 ST. PETERSBURG: Morning sightseeing, including the famous historic city center with it's beautiful parks, canals, bridges and squares; Nevsky Prospect Park, Kazan Cathedral, Count Stroganoff's Palace and the Admiralty. In the afternoon, visit the Winter Palace and the Hermitage, followed by a trip to Alexander Nevsky Abbey to see the oldest cemetery where many of the country's most important historical figures are buried.
DAY 5 ST. PETERSBURG/OVERNIGHT TRAIN/MOSCOW: Morning tour to the lovely city of Pushkin - formerly Tsarskoe Selo, the Czar's Village. Tour Catherine Palace, the beautiful Baroque style building that was built by Empress Elizabeth and named for her mother, Catherine the First. This afternoon, tour the Peter and Paul Fortress with the famous Peter and Paul Church, which contains the tomb of Russian rulers from Peter the Great through Alexander III.
DAY 6 MOSCOW: Meet your awaiting coaches and continue to the hotel for check-in, followed by a tour into the heart of the city - the Kremlin. This tour will also include a visit to the fascinating State Armory, the oldest museum in Russia. Walk across Red Square to explore this city within a city of medieval towers, cathedrals and palaces that are filled with art treasures reflecting almost ten centuries of Russian history, including the spectacular St. Basil's Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Moscow.
DAY 7 MOSCOW: Morning visit to Novodevichi Convent. Originally built as a fortress, it also functioned as a convent for women of the royal family and a prison for Princess Sophia, sister of Peter the Great. Remainder of the day is at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping. Dinner and overnight in Moscow.
DAY 8 MOSCOW/USA: Depart Moscow on an international airline carrier's return flight to the US. All meals served on board as well as complimentary beverages, movies, and headphones for your travel comfort.
